Not recently. A while back, Keith, the Cruisemaster "upgraded" the software which brought system response to a near standstill and made the site practically unusable. I'm sure he thought he was doing us all a big service, bringing us more features (although I've never figured out what they were, other than lots more smilies and a font control) but in reality he made the site so slow that we've just stopped using it. I really appreciate that he provides it free (god knows I found a lot of playmates through it in the old days.)

This place used to be GANGBUSTERS. You could post and get 5 responses in 10 minutes. Now, as is obvious, you might see 2 or 3 postings a DAY. It sometimes takes 3 minutes to load the front page, and I've got 3Mb DSL. Maybe the world has just moved on to something else, I know the speed factor pushed me elsewhere. It just takes too long, and the dearth of postings leads me to believe others found it excruciating too.

I have hooked up using this site, as I'm sure have many others. I will agree with the assessment provided here though-- fewer posts, not as rapid as before the "makeover." If you want instantaneous contact and hookups NOW, you're probably better off using the competition/pay sites. But considering this is widely read and as Darkr says, FREE, it is a good place to look up ads/respond to ads/post ads.

I too have had to sift through the flakes, spam, and occasional rude people that don't bother demonstrating manners (like simply responding, if only to say "thanks but no thanks"), but that's the case everywhere I think.

I've hooked up here too, however I bring along something else to occupy my time waiting for pages to open...a l o n g book or something. Any recomended alternative sites?

In the past mostly, but still on occassions find a nice guy to hook up with. Speed of page loading is a problem (t1 line so I know that is not my issue), I suspect site bandwidth and number of users at a given moment is the problem compounded by all those popups. Popup blocker eliminates them, but still a slow load. My solution is to set up links on side for ad stuff and drop the popups and free up all of our systems for cruising boards and link hopping as needed. I check this monthly, not weekly like the old days as the number of ads is down and are hard review quickly.

I know that the speed of this site has slowed down. But I think that is NOT the real reason for lack of posts. I simply think the board is losing its novelty and men are looking elsewhere. Take for example the telephone chat lines (900, 976 numbers), which faded with time, and the classified ads in newspapers and magazines. They were both extremely popular at first, but once the novelty wore off, few men use them.

In addition, I speak for myself and many others when I say that we get fed up with the lack of action and the amount of endless banter/email tag. I would rather be getting off rather than spending hours and days (sometimes weeks) trying to hookup with someone. I have absolutely no trouble hooking up with guys in public, but on here, I am hassled with an endless array of questions via email. I can go somewhere public and have a dick in my mouth and my cock down a guys gullet in a matter of minutes. But not here. It is so much easier that way....much, much faster and easier. For those of us serious about hooking up, we know that it is a massive waste of time to get anyone here....and as a result, few hookups take place. A couple of my buddies too who are extremely hot never have been able to hookup here. It is the same for all websites--pay or not. The fact that you have to subscribe is not an indicator whether or not you are interested in hooking up.

Though I have noticed that the site has periods of very slow response time, it sure doesn't seem to be as bad for me as it seems to be for some of you guys.

Yet CFS has ALWAYS been a slow site, as compared to some others. I'm just kind of used to it.

The reality is that pop ups do not consume enough bandwidth to be blamed for the slow load times of the message boards. No one likes pop ups, but as we all know: this site is FREE. They are a minor annoyance at best. I'm happy to deal with a few pop ups and have access to this great site for FREE. Hell, CFS is one of the VERY few sites I'd ever consider paying for -- but Keith, please pretend you didn't hear that, OK?

I've found that for some strange reason, if CFS is very slow, MOST of the time rebooting my PC helps. Not always, but quite often. Also, I delete my temporary internet files EVERY time I surf. You can set IE to delete them when you close it. Give it a try -- clearing the cache seems to help with load times.

At worst, I sometimes wait twenty or thirty seconds for a page to load. Very rarely do I come to CFS and find a page will not load at all. If that happens, I either reboot, clean my cache, or just come back to the site in half an hour. Almost always I get right in and have no problems at all.

Just a guess, but it seems to me that the pop ups are having trouble coming through -- and that this delays loading the actual page. I have no idea if this is even a consideration -- are the pop ups stored on a different or slower server or something like that?

Right now, I'm blocking all pop ups because I'm not using my own PC and I don't want anyone looking over my shoulder and seeing a photo of a raging erection. But when I'm at home, CFS is one of the few sites where I don't block pop ups. They don't bother me here at all. Most are decent pics of nice looking dudes. Naked guys with hard dicks appearing on my screen sure don't bother me!

The message board upgrades are not the problem, I don't think. Message board software is purchased and modified according to the webmaster's needs. These same boards exist elsewhere, too.

throatfiller is right. All you get here is "send your pics, send your stats, send your pics again" - yet these same guys are cruising restrooms for whatever cums their way.
I have never met a more fucked up bunch of guys as I have on here and other sites - they don't want to hook up, they want to chat until they get an exact replica of their father or something....

Hi, I never had too much of a problem with this site being slow. The response time has always been good for me and it is better now. I have taken pains to upgrade and modify my own hardware and software though. Today Yahoo was MUCH slower and I could do nothing to get it going.

As to the content. Keith cannot very well control the guys here and elsewhere who are too lazy to put anything on their ad or in a posting or email that describe them and their needs. Even less is there any control over the idiots who first thing ask for "stats" and next for pics and on and on. I just discard their email or don't answer them.

One thing I do is ask to meet serious hookups in a public place if I am going to invite them home. Why should I let a stranger in my house without even talking to him? Besides my experience with strangers in other places is that I will not be with ten feet of them. What does bug me is when I bring this up, somebody always wants my picture! If you are going to meet in real time, why ask for a picture?

My best success on Cruising for Sex is to find out what is going on in the neighborhoods near me. I also use the non geographic message boards for information, such as this one. Most of the guys I have corresponded with a good guys and maybe that is true on the street,but I doubt it.

Finally, there is no site, that I have found, that is any good for gay pickup sex. Without this site, I would be lost. I am not one of the lucky one who can walk into a ABS and be surrounded by handsome men with big cocks waiting for me to suck them off.

Ya know I never hook up here, but now I am not even looking to. I am more here to share views and information ABOUT hooking up. I can walk into a boys club and have a cock in my mouth in 2 minutes flat. On here I would be emailing for 2 weeks and then he would flake out anyway. Can't complain, I have flaked a time or 2 myself. Sometimes I will advertise my mouth as being available at a particular venue on here but I have NO evidence that has ever worked.

Next time Keith upgrades the site I think it would be cool to have those Helpful/Not voting buttons on each post like Amazon. I would love to be able to NOT HELPFUL some of these one sentence illiterate posts. I don't like to flame the lame.
