Bumrungrad Hospital has a price list that covers every part of the body.

BKK Experience W/ Laser Hair Removal

I live/work in BKK & have used 3 clinics for laser hair removal (and freckles/sun spots too). Bumrungrad Hospital is OK. APEX in Siam Discovery Center is better on prices, sometimes spotty on English. My first choice though is a U.K. educated, Thai dermatologist, Dr. Thirichai, who has a super modern clinic in Siam Square. (Siam Laser Clinic/Soi 3/Siam Square/1200-2000.)

It depends somewhat on what hair you’re having lasered. I’ve had my underarms done which is the most common, laser hair treatment in any of those 3 clinics. Now, I am having my pubic hair ‘bush’ permanently reduced 50% in size and all hair on my balls permanently removed.

Laser hair treatment usually requires 3 or more sessions spread out over at least 3 weeks between sessions. The permanence of it depends somewhat on the color of the hair (darker hair is the best with lighter skin color). It won’t permanently remove 100% of all hair but it’ll remove 95%+. Every 1-2 years, you may need a top up.

Is it painful? Not really. When the dermatologist is lasering, it feels like a rubber band is being stretched to ‘sting’ the skin a bit. There is only that sensation. After it is finished, there are no scars and no residual pain at all.

Pattaya Laser Hair Removal

Ooops. Forgot to note that in Pattaya the APEX Laser Hair removal chain has a truly excellent clinic on the 2nd or 3rd floor of Royal Gardens Mall.

Underarms are 9,000 baht (for 3 treatments) and 'bikini' removal is the same. While the nurses & doctors are Thai, the front office staff is Filippina with excellent English.

I had three treatments at Bumrungrad on chest - after first treatment no effect - doctor said would need to increase the "power" (thanks so how much did that waste of time cost me). After two more - he never asked to see me to check how it went. In my view I seems to have more hair and longer than before. Will be making an appointment to see him again and wil ask how they come up with their success statistics if they do not see the patient after the final treatment. The second and even more the third (now doubt power went up again) was more painful and they had ice at hand to deaden it - pain only lasts about 20 mins. Thus I suppose different people will react in different ways. may be worth having a test patch done first. I may well try the guy in siam out next.

Dr T's Phone & Laser Hair Removal Pain

Dr. Thirichai uses the nickname "Dr. T" for his farang patients. His telephone number is 02-251-4531~2. His clinic is on the 2nd floor and admittedly, in that BKK way with addresses, a little hard to find the 1st time.

You can email me directly if you want tighter directions. And, his front office staff is pathetic with English so you'll have to patiently wade through until you speak with him. You really don't need an appointment (that isn't the Thai way). Just show up in the mid-to-late afternoon or early evening. He'll take care of you.

He is relatively young (30?) and initially quite a professionally serious sort of doctor. I imagine he's straight thought openminded. He likes 'metrosexuals' as they are good for business!

As far as HCMPP's comments about the pain, he's right in that we all have different levels of pain tolerance. The closest analogy is the S-N-A-P of rubber band on your bare skin when the laser is working. It is obviously an alien feeling but the results are fine.

Not all laser hair removal is successful. The first treatment IS done always done at a lower power setting and subsequent treatments have HIGHER power settings. The first treatment will permanently remove no more than 20% of the hair growth. The second treatment should remove an additional 50%.

Laser hair treatments do not produce instant results. Everyone needs a sequence of them. I think Bumrungrad's information to HCMPP is correct according to what I know too.

another non-success story

I went to Apex at Emporium for a series of laser hair removal treatments on my back and upper arms. Initially I did a series of three treatments which included no "guarantee".

Later I purchased an additional set of five treatments for my arms with a "guarantee" that they would continue treatments until the hair was all gone. After those five treatments and three more ... the last being at the absolute highest (and painful) setting ... I was informed that my six-month period of the guarantee was over. I never had been informed of a six month period prior to that.

The hair grew back. After eleven treatments. YMMV

Unsuccessful Treatments

I am sorry to learn of BKK_GWM's unsuccessful experience at APEX. I have only been to their Pattaya branch and that laser hair removal process was successful.

Laser hair removal is NOT successful with everyone. It can be particularly frustrating when one shaves hair (like pubic, chest and back hair) which isn't meant to be shaved in order to receive laser hair removal treatment(s).

If it doesn't work, the hair grows in again first in a stubble and then with continuous growth. While this hasn't happened to me, it is the net result of laser hair removal treatment(s) not working.

My underarm laser hair removal treatments have been 100% successful. My pubic and scrotum hair treatments have been done but once. I'll see how it is progressing after the second treatment NEXT week.

lazer vs. IPL treatment

What's the difference between lazer treatment and intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment for permanent hair removal? Any experts out there who could explain what leads to what results?

Rise~ balls laser hair removal

Rise, how is your balls hair removal going? I'm interested in balls hair removal but laser seems to be very painful... no?

Who is doing laser on your balls? female nurses??? I would be very embarrassed to even ask... Tell me your experience on your balls hair removal.

By the way, did you get your balls hair removal done at Siam?

Koon Surasak kub,

I have used hair removal lotion on my balls. it works very well . Wet your balls first and then apply lotion on your balls and the base of your weewee. Follow the directions. You should leave the lotion on few minutes longer than suggested. Wipe your balls gently with tissue ( make sure you don't rub them with rough wash cloth) . Rinse off with just plain water( do not use soap) and your balls will be ready for licking within an hour . And it doesn't itch when the hair grows back .

give it a try

NOOM.
