no direct bus. 113 brings you to Hualampong Main station -then the 1-53 or walk. OR go over to World Trade and then the 204-but many of that turn earlier-to avoid the worst of jams.
taxi's never ever make a ''deal''just go by meter and pay what is says. Tipping not needed (in fact Thai often round down the odd xx1 or xx2 fare)

- I quizzed the other American acquaintance about his impressions of CHALERM GIAT cinema? He replied that it has two things going for it -
1.- Since the OPENING of the BTS'. ext'n. to Wongwian Yai, (S8.), it's no more difficult to get-to than going to the movie-hse. in ChinaTown; and
2.- He feels that it has 'Potential.' -especially at week-ends.

-- Y'day., (09 jul.), the 'Another Am. acquaintance.' went on his own to the CHINATOWN CINEMA.;
- No ETA. given;
- Reportedly it was v. busy!
- He added that some others there, instead of just groping, were grasping enough to be painful: :(

Phahon movie-house ...

-- Today, 28 jul., a mature & frequently visiting acquaintance from Egypt, (?), mentioned to me that a few days previously he had visited the PHAHON CINEMA - Saphan Kwai and found it surprisingly busy;
- Whereas, and on the same day, my Elderly, Frequently visiting & Am. friend visited CHINATOWN's remaining cinema and found it nigh on Nothing To Report with little if any activity. :(
- As another & Am. Friend would say: 'It's a crap shoot.' - seemingly all too true.

Chinatown ...

- Over this last weekend - 13 & 14 aug. - my Elderly, frequently-visiting & Am. Friend visited CHINATOWN on each a'noon., arriving quite soon after opening time!
- Both days were reported as the Cinema being not too full but plenty of activity, especially on the Sunday when several new members were seen and enjoyed!

i am sure that the new opening of extentions at the other end - on nut to bearings ( 5 stops ) give u some extra suck cinema's and perhaps better quality than the one's now available. If I remember there are at least a few old style types which used to be hot a few years ago -

I can't think of any (except for the State, which is beyond Bearing), but would be interested if there are any.

The prince cinema ...

-- My Elderly, Frequently-visiting & Am. acquaintance - he's in FL. right now - told me that he'd been info'ed. that THE PRINCE CINEMA. had CLOSED because of the floods;
- Y'day., (23 oct.), a'noon. I went to see for myself: it remains OPEN! :-) -
- Adm'n.: 50.Bh.;
- Hrs.: 12.oo.-18.30.hrs.;
-- While I was o'side. a couple of attractive & young men passed-by, but did not enter, otherwise I might well have paid my 50.Bh. ent'ce. fee: ;)

No one will ever be able to find the State based on that address.

It's in Sukhumvit Soi 78, roughly opposite Soi 111.

-- True, wch. is why our Gentle Reader was refered-back to posting #44., wch. I fear lest you didn't bother to check. -- :)

Indeed I didn't, as probably most other gentle readers wouldn't either.

That's why I repeated the very simple location information.

Ease of access is everything.

-- Seeing how OUT of sync. S'vit's. sois are at that point: #78. -v- #111. is why our GR. was refered-back to posting #44. to facilitate getting-to and locating THE STATE CINEMA; were he or you not disposed to check-back then that is not my concern; I have cleared my yard-arm.

With all due respect, a monkey could get there based on my nine-word instructions.

No mouse clicks or poring through historical posts required.

Rule one my dad taught me: keep it simple, son.

Chinatown ...

-- A few days ago my Elderly, Frequently-visiting & American Friend flew-IN to BANGKOK from HONG KONG;
- He has recovered sufficiently from the trans-meridional time-shift to start getting out and about;
- Today, 01 december, afternoon he visited the only remaining such cinema in BKK's. CHINATOWN. He reported that there were a few familiar faces from previous visits but quite a few newer ones; patrons of all ages and only very few & other farangs seen;
- He told me that it felt good to return! ;)
