No. i was there at about 9:00pm tonight (Fri) and none of the competing guys (or any customers) were there. Maybe they showed up later, but I doubt it. Most are on deck by 8-8:30.
I was a bit surprised they weren't back for the friday night...but who knows. I didn't ask anyone. Congrats to Jak who won Mr Thailand (His pic is on Thaibody) |

i was told that steroids are sold openly in thailand. i wonder if there are doctors in thailand that monitor the steroid use of the guys.
there's a lot of bad press with steriods. and i am sure these competitive physiques are not all natural. |

Oh Tawan, what has happened to you?
Each visit to BKK, I usually end up at Tawan at least once. It's usually the only go-go bar I go to, although I have certainly been to others. I enjoy the older and more muscular guys. By older, I generally mean 30 and by muscular I mean defined. In February I went to Tawan once. It was terrible. They seemed short staffed. Maybe 6 guys or so. None of the usual standouts were there. The same guys were in all phases of the show. The show started with the lip-syncing lady boys. They had a magician which was new and different. He was actually kind of entertaining, but not generally what I go to Tawan to see. No jack-off show. Went back last week, more guys were working, but still none of the usual stars. The show lasted about 30 minutes. Might have been so short, usually it's about one hour, because there were no dancing lady boys. Also no jack-off show. Maybe that's a thing of the past. The show seemed to consist of three acts of different guys getting blow jobs and ended with a fuck show. As soon as the show was over the entire working crew took the stage and initiated their own applause. Someone actually shouted out from the audience, "boring." I was a bit shocked at the behavior, but agreed with the sentiment. I have said before the guys need more discipline - like they had before. I mean they need to take the stage in order, show some enthusiasm when they are up there. They need to make their way across the stage so everyone gets to the them. And, they need better briefs. All things they did and had before. I have offed several of the dances there over the last few years. My last two offs from there however, have been the non-dancing staff. Same guy twice. My last few visits there, he doesn't seem to work there any longer. Drinks are now 280 THB. Not sure about the off fee. The staff and owners are still very friendly. They welcome you when you arrive, versus pull you in. And they thank you when you leave. Even when you leave alone after only having one beer. Will I go back, probably, next time i'm in BKK. But damn, I wished they'd make some changes and improvements. |

I must be about the perfect demographic for enjoying what Tawan has to offer..
I prefer 'chunky' guys with muscle (ie rugby style) rather than bodybuilding phyique. I could be perfectly happy with someone pushing 40. I also sort of like the way they wander around, and wander on stage. I know this is undisiplined compared to other bars, but I think the guys are disiplined in other ways; I have never seen any guy roll his eyes at the sight of a customer. They can be cool and aloof if they want, but never rude, and always professional. I don't like the 'chuck-wow' part of the show. I irritates me they wear masks and I hate the embarassing asking for 100B notes. I don't like the songs or dancing; but I DO like the sucking when it is guy sucking guy, (not lady boy sucking) and I like the big cock show. So what Tawan is doing suits me fine. But having said that, I have been going to bars for over 15 yrs and I really don't(or rarely) get turned on by the shows anywhere anymore. I remember the first time I watched shows at Barbiery Bar and Tawan and I couldn't breath....The things I saw for the first time burnt into my retina and memory for many, many private replays in the privacy of my own bathroom. But now I view the shows with eyes as glazed as a Christmas ham. It is not necessarily the shows, its me. I've seen it all before. A Malasian friend of mine was there at Tawan for the 1st time during Songkran this year and he had the same first reaction I did 15 yrs ago. It blew his mind. Tawan is like most bars; it works on two levels: one is mind-blowing one-off 1st time experience; and the second is a place a customer feels comfortable in and returns as a regular gradually getting to know some of the staff more as friends. Now when I go to Tawan there are about 5 or 6 of the guys I chat and joke with (Including the wait staff) and I regullarly off 2 of the guys. (One I have offed regularly for 2 yrs and the sex gets better and better). I would rather go early on a week night when no one is there, have a drink and a laugh with some of the staff, and then leave with one of my regulars just as the show starts. It suits me fine and seems to suit the guys at Tawan. Each to their own. We are all responsible for our own happiness. And I wish you all... a penis. |
