As for BobJames' experience, while it is hard to generalise across the many boys of Soi Twilight, what he experienced is far from untypical. In my view, it is necessary to communicate in advance, in the bar itself, what one's expectations are and ascertain if the boy is game for it. Some boys are top, some will bottom (you'd be surprised which ones will bottom*), some will suck - and under what conditions.

* There are a few boys who will never admit to being bottomable while inside the bar, but in the room, on solemn oath (bring out the Bible) that you will never breathe a word to his mamasan or other bar boys, he may agree.

A long time back I made my own policy to talk in detail with the young man before offing. I'm specific as to what I want and I ask for a specific answer as to what he will agree to do.

I never discuss this with captains or mamasans, only with the working boy and I find that politeness and whispers seem to help, and I make sure this discussion starts within perhaps 10 minutes of the man sitting down, so that he and I can get on with life quickly. If the answer is vague then I politely change the construction of the question until I get a clear answer.

If he indicates that the only thing he will do is give me a handjob then he has no chance whatever of getting my business.

I totaly respect his right to say he will only suck if there is a condom in use, but I will not off in this scenario. I expect the man to insist on a condom if penetration is part of the agreement.

When this happens I also ask for the bill and leave. That's my way of extracting myself from this situation, but of course others will want to stay and perhaps ask another working man to chat, each to their own.

I too have a bottle of Durex Play handy.

Typically, if I'm planning to off a boy back to my hotel, there's no need to have these supplies on me, even though I too like wearing pants with commodious side pockets, which can well accommodate a bottle and several condoms. I leave the provisions in the room.

If I'm going to a massage parlour, some condoms(for oral) in my pocket will be enough. I won't need lube because with massage oil around, I'm not going to do any penetration anyway. But if I had to bring lube with me, it would be the easiest thing to drop into my backpack.
